The President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping exchanged congratulations following the successful launching of the first Algerian “Alcomsat-1” satellite from China, saying that this success is “the culmination of a serious work of Algeria and China in the field of space technologies”, said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This achievement is “the fruit of a successful scientific partnership between the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) and several Chinese scientific bodies,” said the statement.

In his message to his Chinese counterpart, President Bouteflika hailed the “quality of bilateral relations between Algeria and China”.

The two countries decided in 2014 to promote “Global Strategic Partnership”, believing that this achievement was “the crowning achievement of Serious long-term work between Algeria and China in the field of space technologies “, says the same source.

Alcomsat-1 separated from the launcher 26 minutes after take-off. It is currently evolving in an orbit with 4.1191 apogee and 200 km of perigee inclined at 26.4 °.

“Five maneuvers of Alcomsat-1 will be needed in the next six days to reach its geostationary orbit of 36,000 km altitude and its orbital position at 24.8 ° West,” said “ASAL” (Algerian Spatial Agency).

Alcomsat-1 will provide audio transmission, high-speed Internet, telemedicine and video conferencing services, and improve the reception of several television programs.

The engineers of the Algerian Space Agency will control the satellite via telecommunication systems operating centers based in Algeria.
