IGP of Rwanda takes part at 5th General Assembly of Kigali International Conference Declaration (KICD).

The works of the 5th General Assembly of Kigali International Conference Declaration (KICD) was held on 06 and 07 March at Algiers, in presence of Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, National Police Chief, Major General Abdelghani Hamel and Rwandese Inspector General of Police Emmanuel K. Gasana also chairman of the 4th General Assembly.

 
Organized by the Directorate General of the National Police (DGSN), this two-day meeting will be devoted to the role of security services in fighting violence against women and girls.

The fifth General Meeting of KICD in Algiers shows Algeria’s commitment to the promotion of the rights of women as well as its support to all regional and international efforts to end violence against women.

The meeting will bring together national and international personalities, representatives of African police services as well as representatives of the African Union and United Nations agencies in Algiers, including the UN Women, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the United Nations Development Programme.

In his opening speech, General Gasana urged the “security forces to unite at all levels, the local, regional and international levels and go beyond the African continent.”

The same official said that we need “to grant more importance to the post-conflict situations and make of the Kigali Conference recommendations an integral part of security forces policies.”

The President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika was honored on this occasion for the role of the security organs to end violence against women and in recognition of his efforts to promote and protect Algerian women.

Also, Award was presented by the Director General of National Security, Major General Abdelghani Hamel, to Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal on behalf of President Bouteflika. Mr. Sellal and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Rwandan Inspector General of Police Emmanuel K. Gasana were also honored at the same time.
