Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia on Thursday visited the home of the late Amar Benaouda in Annaba, a key figure of the National Liberation War and member of the 22 historic group, who died on Monday in Brussels (Belgium). He conveyed the condolences of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and the government to the deceased family.
Amar Benaouda was a member of several organizations; such as the Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Freedoms, the Special Organization (OS), and the Group of 22 and the National Council of the Algerian Revolution.
It is worth mentioning that the « Group of 22 » is a grouping of 22 young heroes, who were determined to liberate Algeria. These young men were all members of the Special Organization.
In June 1954, they met in the villa of Elias Derriche (one of the militants) in Clos-Salembier (El Madania) to set the date of the outbreak of the Independence War of Algeria.
